There are a couple of reasons why we have chosen to obmit the spf from our moisturizers.

  • spf is made from ingredients that are thick in consistency and the molecular structure inhibits any products mixed with it from penetrating the skin. If you have a product that is intended to penetrate the skin in a moisturizer you just stopped that process from happening.

  • spf tends to change the structure of other ingredients in a product rendering good ingredients into ingredients that no longer do the job they were meant to do.

  • spf doesn’t have the most pleasant smell and when it’s added to a moisturizer it will take on that smell. Many clients do not want to smell spf in their moisturizer.

  • spf has a thicker consistency and changes a “light or oil free” moisturizer to a heavier moisturizer.

 

 


Today's sunscreens must not only protect their wearers from burning or tanning, but also from photoaging and the risk of skin cancer. They must contain a minimum of SPF 15 and must not irritate nor cause allergic reactions, breakout or eye irritation; nor feel greasy or heavy on the skin. They must be invisible when applied, maintain their full protection for the duration of the SPF level (e.g., an SPF 15 should provide complete protection for 150 minutes), and must not degrade under intense UV exposure.
