I am also wondering about your liposome eye gel.
I presently use an eye cream from another company that
I really like because it's very thick and creamy and I
feel it really nourishes the delicate eye area.
Would the liposome eye gel be used in addition to my

Question:
How much money can I make doing the Facelift Massage,
honestly?
Your
profit is going to depend on the amount you charge for
the Facelift Massage. How much do you want to make it
worth? If you charge $65.00 (which is average), and
your total cost for that treatment is $4.00 to $6.00
(average) than you just profited $60.00. If you get
your client started on the recommended series of 12
than you can profit about 720.00 in 12 weeks! I always
offer a discounted rate per treatment of $5.00 if they
purchase the series of 12. I know a therapist
that charges $125.00 for the Belavi treatment and she
really makes it worth $125.00!

Question:
Why
do you offer Esthetically Yours products for Private
Label?
I
understand how nice it is to have your information and
logo on all of your products. Every time your client
uses that product you have a free advertisement. I
have spent a great deal of time and energy researching
laboratories and companies that create skincare
products and to my dismay there are only a handful of
good companies. I have one of the best laboratories in
the world manufacturing products exclusively for
Esthetically Yours. Our products are created when I
call, not stored in a warehouse until I call.
Our products are used in some of the top spa's and
resorts in the country. You can be assured you are
using quality skincare products.

Belavi
and Esthetically Yours have pre-printed product
information that will help you promote your products
to clients in a professional manner. It's always good
to have product on hand to show your client what you
have used during their service. Offer these products
to your client for purchase. If you have to order it,
odds are that client is going to walk away and you are
not going to make the sale. There are some good
promotional ideas in books or already in use at salons
and spas. Information is usually yours, if you ask!

Regarding
labeling of product,
what is the process? Would you ship then and I
would label or do you work with my graphics designer
concerning labels, etc.?
A
good label Co that we work with is www.labelsnow.com

labels to our products the label makes the container
behind it become crystal clear showing the product
through (like a window). Remember the product will
be getting wet so you need to print with foil
or have the labels laminated.

Question:
At what
age do you recommend starting professional facials? I
have some clients who have pre-teen children with
early skin problems, but they seem so young to have a
facial!’
I
think your question is an excellent one, as I
personally think it is a mistake to focus too much
‘adult’ attention on clients who are very young.
So often, youngsters have a heightened insecurity
about their appearance anyway, and by calling too much
attention to what we perceive as a ‘problem,’ can
make it even worse! I typically find their
parent [usually their Mother] is an existing client,
who would bring in the teenager for me to look over.
I generally chat to the parent before the appointment,
let them know that I did not want to talk about the
skin problems in front of the teen as if they were an
object. So often, the parents will say things such as
‘I keep telling her, if she would just stop picking
her face, her skin would clear up!’ They would say
it in front of the teen, and say it in such a way,
that they expected me to agree with them.
Often, the parents' opinion was in fact incorrect, and
did nothing to help the problem. A difficult situation
though, because by being a regular client, I would
find myself caught in the middle. Sound familiar? It
is important to explain to the parent that you would
like to look at the skin alone, make a treatment plan,
and then discuss it with the parent [which is usually
the one paying for the treatment].
It is important to remember that the teen is your
client too, and entitled to a high degree of
confidentiality. You will lose their trust if they
feel that everything they tell you will be passed on
to the parent, no matter how trivial the details may
seem! I think a good age to begin skin care at home is
from birth, but the professional treatment aspect
should begin at around 11 or 12 with a very simple
cleansing routine and extractions. I don’t believe
it should be much more than a 30-minute cleansing
treatment with a double cleanse, exfoliation,
extractions and a masque. I would not elaborate into
massage, pre-treatment relaxation rituals or any over
stimulation with friction.
Keep it serious and simple, and be very attentive to
the teen’s feedback as far as results and home care.
Remember, the home care aspect is even more important
than the professional treatment at this age, and their
active participation is critical to success.

Question:
I
know that extractions are important when a client has
congested skin, but should I do them on all clients?
What if their skin condition is good and really
doesn’t need extractions?’
One
thing that clients cannot do for themselves [and
should never be encouraged to tackle!] is to extract
congestion in their skin. While some clients have full
need of our extraction expertise, it is true that
there are many with good skin conditions that we may
feel do not need this type of attention.
It is nevertheless essential that every client know
that we have in fact, evaluated and examined their
skin for possible extractions. I call this process
‘extraction evaluation’. We must examine the skin
of every client under the magnifying lamp, and
literally scour the skin with our eyes and fingertips,
searching out any potential extractions. The client
must not only see that we are examining the skin
[because the light of the magnifying lamp is on], but
they must also feel our fingertips stroking the skin
surface, feeling for congestion underneath.
Areas to be examined must include the hairline, inside
the ears, behind the ears, under the jaw line and in
the indent of the collarbone, as well as the obvious
nasal-labial groove at the side of the mouth and nose.
Obviously, when we detect congestion, we will tackle
it by pre-softening and preparing the skin for manual
extractions, but even if we do not find any
congestion, every client must know that we searched
the skin for congestion anyway!

Question:
What
is acne and how do I know if I have it?
Acne
is a genetic disease affecting the skin by a series of
recurrent, infected breakouts. Classic acne blemishes
include blackheads, milia, pimples and cysts. If you
experience ongoing breakouts, you should seek help
from a licensed skin care therapist, who may refer you
to a dermatologist if the condition is sufficiently
severe. With the numerous advances in skin care
formulations, however, increasingly more people are
combating their acne with regular facial treatments
and complementary at-home regimens.

Question:
Why
do some people breakout in their forties?
Stress
and hormonal changes are the primary cause of the
re-emergence of acne well after puberty. Recent
studies indicate that 40 to 50 percent of adults
between the ages of 20 and 40 are diagnosed with
persistent, low-grade acne. Along with several
lifestyle changes, including reducing one's stress
level and improving one's diet, there are several
products on the market designed to address these
problems.

Question:
What
is the difference between acne vulgaris and acne
rosacea?
Acne
vulgaris is the more common form of acne and is caused
by clogging and inflammation of the skin's sebaceous
and hair follicles. Acne Rosacea, on the other hand,
tends to affect an older person and is caused by the
blood vessels of the face becoming inflamed and
swollen. Skin can become permanently reddened and the
nose can become swollen and bulbous. Acne Rosacea,
like acne vulgaris, is treatable. Speak to your skin
care therapist for recommendations on treatment.

Question:
Can
Hydroxy Acids make me look younger?
Because
the rate of cell renewal slows as we age, it is
vitally important to assist the skin by supplementing
its natural exfoliation process with hydroxy acid
treatments. Removing dead cells from the skin's
surface not only makes the skin appear fresh and
healthy, it stimulates new cell generation. (Research
indicates that it can even increase collagen levels,
helping to reduce the effects of skin aging.) Consult
your skin care therapist for a series of in-salon
treatments and for recommendations on effective,
at-home exfoliants.

Question:
I'm
confused about the different types of hydroxy acids.
Is one type better than another?
Basically,
hydroxy acids all work in a similar fashion by helping
to "unglue" the intercellular cement that
binds dead surface cells together. Among the many
types of hydroxy acids, Non-irritating ingredients
like alpha hydroxy Lactic Acid, beta hydroxy Salicylic
Acid, and fruit enzymes Papain and Bromelain are the
most effective. When discussing the
effectiveness of a hydroxy acid product, the most
relevant issues are not just the amount of acid used,
referred to as a percentage, but the final pH of the
product as well. Make sure products contain the
optimum pH of 3.4 to 3.9, which ensures an effective
treatment without irritating the skin. A pH lower than
3.2 may cause serious irritation to the skin, while a
pH above 4.0 weakens the effectiveness of the hydroxy
acids.

Question:
How does
glycolic acid work?
Glycolic
acid comes in varying strengths. At lower strengths is
used as an exfolient. At higher strengths it is used
as a mild peel. As an exfoliant it softens and loosens
the dry, dead skin cells that form a barrier layer on
the skin surface. This allows the skin to shed the
dead cells. The process uncovers new skin cells to
reveal a smoother, moister and fresher skin surface.
At the same time, glycolic acid loosens the natural
oils and dirt that buildup in the pores. This deep
cleansing action minimizes the appearance of the pores
and reduces the development of pimples and other
breakouts. Glycolic acid also stimulates circulation
to the skin. By doing this the body's production of
elastin and collagen is increased so that the skin is
more supple. Removing dead skin cells, cleaning out
pores, and stimulating the production of elastin and
collagen results in healthier and more youthful
appearing skin. The new living cells retain moisture
better which reduces the appearance of fine lines and
wrinkles.

Question:
Is one
glycolic peel enough?
No,
generally one wash is not enough. For optimal benefit,
your doctor or esthetician performs a series of four
to six applications of glycolic acid at the
appropriate strengths. These treatments are performed
every 7 to 14 days during the series. The treatments
promote the removal of damaged skin layers and
stimulate the growth of new skin cells. Remember, this
program is conservative. Unlike a chemical peel, it is
designed to produce changes slowly so that there is
minimum interruption of your daily schedule. Periodic
follow-up peels three to five times throughout the
year are recommended to maintain your skin's improved
condition.
